Hidden Forest DNWR

We hiked up though the snow into the Hidden Forest in Deadman Canyon. It is hard to believe as bleak as the moonscape of the Sheep Range looks from Hwy. 95. that Deadman Canyon has this hidden forest with tall Pondersosa Pines...Good Stuff

La Madre Springs Trail RRNCA

The La Madre Spring Trail is well used and get a variety of users , but the view is very nice all the same. The La Madre Escarpment looks very impressive from this vantage point.I'm hoping there might be some flowers this week.

Cottonwood Canyon Wilderness

I went to Cedar City Utah for a week to attend a Forest Service wilderness managers meeting, but I did get to hang out with an old friend and a new one in a beautiful place...even if the time was too short...Wilderness is priceless and meant to be shared.

It was one of those days that you just wait for ...crystal clear air, beautiful skies, cool temps a hikers dream. I hobbled along on my sore ankle longing to hike far and fast ,but content just being outside. I love the Desert Refuge it is some great country... we will be back.

Sheep Range

The Sheep Range is the sleeping giant just north of Las Vegas. It is one of the wildest places around and it is the largest wildlife refuge in the lower 48. This collection represents 3 or 4 late afternoon trips to the Sheep Range. I would watch from the northwest part of Las Vegas and when the light was dancing and the clouds were moving across the landscape, I would head out. It was chilly and the wind was blowing, but the Sheep Range would not disappoint. The range is huge and the colors are spectacular , the Sheep's are wild and should be designated as wilderness someday.
