Howdy

I just want to let you folks know that the southern Nevada deserts are alive and fully functional...in other words the snakes are out.

Mt Charleston Wilderness

Snow on the trail

It felt good to up high and hiking today. Winter is finally giving way to spring a little bit each day. Some of the trails in the Mt Charleston Wilderness are covered with snow and route finding is a little challenging , but oh so rewarding

Bristlecone

Still sleeping

My favorite trees the aspens are still sleeping they haven't awoke to join in the celebration of spring. Well at least this grove in lower Trail Canyon.

Hiking Around

A few trail shots from a couple different hikes at you know where

Bloomin' Joshua

Calico Tanks

Trashed

Really... You just had to haul your old monitor out to Lovell Canyon so you could blast it with your shotgun and watch it blow-up. It never ceases to amaze me how selfish some folks can be....it's all about the thrill of the moment and all about them. Yes there will always be trash and those that don't have a clue ...but seriously folks this is just stupid.

Mt Stirling WSA

Here's a few shots from last week . I've been so busy I finished them up tonight while watching a little baseball. Mt Stirling is one of my favorite places, uncrowd and perhaps the wilder side of the Springs. Here a few shots from Big Timber Springs

Dancing on a Rainbow

You wait and you wait and then one morning you wake up and your shutter finger begins to twitch...you can feel it. I looked outside and I knew the Magic Light was dancing. It was beautiful, the light dancing across the Rainbow Mountain like golden spotlights waxing and waning as they move across the face . It was like they were chasing each other...I just stood in awe knowing I could not captured the full beauty of the Magic Light . Really Good Stuff

Death Valley Wildflowers

Spring in Death Valley

OK, one more for the it's not Nevada file, Spring in Death Valley. For the true desert hiker Death Valley is "Holy Ground", it has no equal...none. The place is packed with wonders and the colors of the diverse landscapes are unreal.
I love being only two hours away and I have a Nat'l Park pass that must be used...holy, holy, holy cow that place is awesome.

Boots for wilderness.

Zappos.com, Keen, Friends of Nevada Wilderness and the Forest Service are teaming up to do some great things in the Spring Mountains for Earth Day. I had the pleasure of spending the day with some folks from Zappos and Keen touring the Zappos.com offices in Henderson and working with them in the field in Lee Canyon. They are such a great group and VERY committed to give back to the community and do something really cool for the Wild...Good Stuff or as they like to say, "Wow"
