First Snow!

Snow...no really, I'm serious. I know it is imposible to tell from this iPhone photo but it was snowing in Kyle Canyon this afternoon. I spent sometime up there today getting ready for my stewardship project this weekend. Brrrr..it was chilly. I must say it was great to see the snow and feel the cold & nice to be Outside when those first flakes came blowing by. I've heard that this year is a El Nino year, so maybe southern Nevada will get more than it's share of winter storms...

South McCullough Wilderness

The South McCullough's, nice range with easy hiking although watch out for the "jumpin cholla" not to be confused with pickly pear in the top pic. Have a great week.

Shoot 'em up

Clean 'em up. I 'm really OK with shooting as a matter of fact it is really rather fun, but a lot of these folks could care less about the desert and they are so destructive. I can hear them now just whining about how their rights are being infringed upon if we asked them to stop, But what about my right to go somewhere without seeing their garbage. Oh yeah, it's just desert noboby goes out there anyway.
Whats up with the bowling pins????

Red Rock Sunrise

I know your getting tried of seeing Red Rock photos all the time , but I tell you I'm going to get a winner one of this days...I need some nasty weather to add a little "sparkle". I was headed to Rainbow Mountain Wilderness to go to check out Rainbow spring, so I saw the sun coming up so I pulled over at theRed Rock overlook. I didn't have a tripod so I used a trash can, a steel post and a block wall to get a few of these, almost as good as a carbon fiber job.

Nice Light

Sign?...What sign?

Alas another vehicle tresspass into the South Mccullough's Wilderness. With roads everywhere crisscrossing the landscape, it's hard to believe that these folks really had to ride right here. My apologies to future generations for such selfishness....I'm trying hard not to go off on a rant here folks.

Roca Roja

Bandido

This chukar does look a bit suspicious doesn't it. I was shooting an far off landscape and heard this noise...chuk, chuk chuk, and looked down and there was about six of them waddling by about 8 feet from me.

Lee Meadows

Lee Meadows, Lee Canyon, Spring Mountains NRA
Beautiful and quiet, patiently waiting for winter to come...and then the madness that is snow play will arrive.

Snow...in Las Vegas???

Ski Las Vegas. Well folks here it is the first ski resort to open in Nevada and maybe the smallest.
I have to admit the snow looked great it made me think of turns, floating, and flying...errr what a minute I'm in Southern Nevada, how cool is that?

South Loop Trail Work

We hiked up the South Loop Trail on a frosty morning last week to work on some switchback short cuts. It was great, the leaves were gold, the air was crisp, and some fleece felt good as we hiked up the trail. I love this last shot of the boys with crossed shovels....hoo-rah for Wilderness

Sandstone

Sandstone...I love it the way the patterns twist, bend and swirl. The soles of my shoes just love to smear and grip, I like the gritty feel.

La Madre Mountain

The La Madre Mountain Escarpment

Turtle Peak, La Madre Mountain Wilderness

Turtle Peak has a great view so I thought it would be a good place to get a front row seat tothe La Madre Mountain escarpment. Our route took us up the gully on the left then left up to the top...good stuff.
